FAQs
Do I need to book or can I just turn up?
Booking is recommended for all of our Safaris especially during School holidays.
When do I need to arrive?
We advise all customers to arrive no later than 15 minutes before your Safari booking as Land Rovers need to leave at their scheduled departure time. Save the stress of finding somewhere to eat before/after your safari and enjoy delicious local produce in the Highland Safaris Cafe
What happens if the weather is bad?
We often get 4 seasons in one day in Scotland. Highland Safaris operate in all weathers and quite often bad or stormy weather is the best time to see a Red Grouse in the heather or some Deer sheltering close to our safari tracks.
Can I take my dog on Safari?
Unfortunately due to customer allergies and land access agreements dogs cannot come on Safari. If the weather is appropriate and you are happy to leave your dog in your car, you can leave your keys with us and we would be happy to check up on your dog while you're on the hill.
Can I use my Tesco Vouchers to pay for a Safari?
Tesco Vouchers are valid towards our Mountain & Forest Safaris and a visit to our Red Deer Centre. Booking is available online only – please enter your voucher code in the box at the checkout. Only one voucher can be applied per booking.
Are there refreshments & toilets on Safari?
Refreshments are provided on our Mountain Safari, Mountain Safari Trek, Private Charter and all of our Seasonal & Special Interest Safaris. Chemical Toilets are available by most of our Mountain Bothies although we advise all customers to visit the Toilets before you depart for your Safari.
Are the Safaris suitable for someone with a disability?
Most of our Safaris are suitable for someone with a disability and we are happy to take wheelchair users on the hill. We advise you to call us so that we can talk you through suitable options.
What should I wear?
You should wear stout shoes or boots and bring a decent jacket (Not too bright) and a hat and gloves in winter (we can provide hats and hand warmers if required).
Where can I eat?
The Highland Safaris Café is set with a stunning outlook and serves fresh, locally produced, homemade lunches, cakes & coffees.
Where can I stay?
Click here to see and book a selection of our local Hotels, Guesthouses, B&Bs and Self Catering holiday homes.
What else can I do on my visit?
To help you make the most of your visit to this area, if you book a Safari you will receive a Safari Pass which has discounts worth over £50 to use in local Attractions, Shops & Cafes. We can also book White Water Rafting, Quad Biking and Clay Pigeon Shooting for you.
Do you ever cancel Safaris?
Safaris will be cancelled only if the main roads to Highland Safaris are closed or in cases of extreme weather. In this situation, we will contact you with as much notice as possible and organise an alternative date or a refund.
